| Long Tong festival is to pray for peace, happiness, and prosperity when farmers in mountainous area start to plant rice. The festival is held near village, in center of the festival is Con tree (cloth ball tree).
It is the most important activities of Tay ethnic people. It reflects the desire to have bumper crops, health, as well as many children and grand children.
The festival is arranged soon after Lunar New Year in Vietnam, in spring. It also attracts many tourists from cities and foreign countries. Traditional games are played such as throw Con ball, cock fighting, love-duet singing, shooting cross-bow, martial art competition.... |
